Microbes Eat My Food is a personal blog about plant diseases by Sarah Maria Schmidt. Plant diseases have the power to decimate human populations and reshape entire landscapes. They are caused by minuscule organisms such as viruses, bacteria and fungi. Microbes Eat My Food will focus on these pathogenic microbes, on their life style and on the impact they have both on our daily life and on our history. It also emphasizes the work of plant pathologist – the people who study plant diseases. People like me! Next to Microbes Eat my Food, I am working as a plant pathologist at the University of Amsterdam. My work has been published in several peer-reviewed scientific journals, in blogs, on Youtube (a little video about my PhD research on powdery mildew) and on my website.
